I Cringe

 

You are the reason I cringe when I tie a scarf around my neck,

I cringe whenever I hear a loud thud across the road,

I cringe when Mama Bella screams' permeates the walls of my bedroom,

You are the reason I cringe when  my salonist mistakenly pulls my hair,

I cringe whenever I see an incoming call,

I cringe whenever a new WhatsApp message pops-up from an unknown number,

You are the reason I cringe when I think of the person I have become,

I cringe whenever I touch my hand stump,

I cringe whenever I recall how you sliced my hand,

I can’t stop cringing at the "perfect" picture of our union,

I cringe whenever I think about shedding off my old self,

I am reminded of all the scars you left me,
